Apraxia Treatment

Apraxia is a poorly understood neurological condition. People with it find it difficult or impossible to perform certain motor movements, even though their muscles are normal. The milder forms of apraxia are known as dyslexia. Apraxia can occur in several different forms. One form of apraxia is oral and facial apraxia. People with oral and facial apraxia cannot voluntarily perform certain movements that involve the facial muscles. Another form of apraxia affects a person's ability to purposefully move their arms and legs. With apraxia of speech, a person finds it difficult or impossible to move their mouth and tongue to speak. This happens even though the person has the desire to speak and the muscles of the mouth and tongue are physically capable of forming words.
